This 340lb feeder came to life after countless land managers and hunters asked for the convenience of a 550lb gravity feeder, but in a smaller, less permanent solution. It’s a balance every hunter understands — committed to feeding, yet still testing out the perfect spot. We built this feeder with exactly that in mind, a feeder that is both portable and stationary.
These feeders have been leaned over the backs of buggies and side-by-sides, dragged across the ground, tossed into truck beds, and carried in the bucket of a tractor. With skids on the bottom and a weight of about 180lbs when empty, they can be moved relatively easily. Each feeder also comes with holes in the skids, so if bears are a problem on your land, you can drive rebar through the holes to keep it locked down and secure.
The name really says it all, these marvels are built like literal tanks. They have a low center of gravity, so when full, no man or beast could harm these. They have skids like tank tracks on the ground, so you can push and slide them where you want them to be when empty. Every piece from the ground up is welded steel. The only parts of these feeders that isn’t welded steel are the motor and battery assembly, and they are all protected inside of, you guessed it, more steel. The bottom of the cage is less than a foot off the ground, but with our cage design, no raccoon or bear can reach in and endanger the spinner. The battery and timer are secure inside the feeder itself, and with a bolt lockable and hinged lid, nothing gets in without permission.
The timer and battery can be accessed from a standing position, meaning you’ll never have to get down and dirty unless you need to do maintenance. Being chest high, these can be filled from standing height.
Our spin feeder cage is one of our finest engineering achievements. It starts with a 16-gauge sheet metal band around the top, proudly stamped with our logo, and reinforced with wire welded directly to it. The pyramided bottom ensures no feed or water collects inside, while the wire design allows for maximum feed throw, and it will keep even the most determined pests out.
The cage secures to the feeder with a heavy-duty hook-and-bolt system — strong enough to support over 250lbs (the heaviest person we could find to test). It’s so well built, the same cage design is used across our entire spin feeder line, unchanged and proven in the field.
Each spin feeder from us has “The Timer.” This means that you have a solid and warrantied timer that has UP TO 6 run times a day, and you can control how long each burst is, from 1-8 seconds. The metallic ring of that spinner and the clanging flow of corn is a dinner bell to deer, and they will soon learn the times and wait on it to go off in the field.

why choose steel outdoors
We’re a locally owned, family-run business dedicated to providing deer feeders, hunting blinds, and a wide range of essentials for hunters and landowners. Over the years, we’ve refined our products to deliver the simplicity, durability, and peace of mind every hunter needs. Built by hunters, for hunters—we understand what it takes to turn preparation into success. At Steel Outdoors, quality and reliability aren’t just what we offer—they’re the tradition we live by.
A lot of first-time feeder buyers get caught up in the price difference between a steel feeder and the cheaper models they can find at brand-name stores. What many fail to realize at the start is that when you buy a feeder, you’re committing to providing feed for the deer for the life of that feeder. Cheaper feeders may seem like a savings, but they also attract a wide array of pests, wasting your feed and draining your wallet.
Let’s break down the math: with plastic feeders, you’re paying not only for the feed consumed by deer but also for the portion lost to squirrels, rats, and other unwanted pests. Over time, that waste adds up, making your initial “savings” vanish.
On the other hand, a properly maintained Steel Outdoors feeder is built to last— Generations of use without fail. It defies the elements, resists pest damage, and keeps your feed secure where it belongs: in the mouths of the deer you’re feeding. Instead of replacing broken plastic year after year, invest in steel and make a smart choice that pays off long term. Your deer, your wallet, and your peace of mind will thank you for it.
